Manasvi Manu Thapar is an Indian lawyer, entrepreneur and policy advisor working at the intersection of law, technology, digital trade and governance in emerging economies. His work spans corporate advisory, digital sovereignty, startup growth and public policy.
As Founder of Candour Legal, he leads advisory work in corporate law, finance, international trade and technology regulation for Indian companies, foreign investors and startups.
He is Chair of the BRICS Business Alliance, supporting collaboration across BRICS+ nations through cross-border investment, legal harmonisation and digital public infrastructure. He is also Founder of the Global Digital Governance Institute, which brings together government, research and civil society perspectives on internet governance, data flows, AI regulation and cybersecurity law.
He serves as Chairperson of the Sabarmati Legal Research & Policy Development Foundation, an NGO supporting civic technology, research and youth engagement. Its initiatives include the Internet Governance Youth Forum, Digital Nyaya Dialogues, CyberLex India and fileRTI.org.
He has mentored over 150 startups and led capacity-building programmes for law students and entrepreneurs. Through Indus Mentors and wider national and international networks, he supports collaboration, innovation and access to justice.
He is Founder of Lothal Ventures and Indus Mentors. His initiatives also include Divorce Made Easy, WillEasy and VeriScope, a news-verification platform.
His leadership experience includes directorships at City Pulse Multiplex, Karnavati Club and Global Hospital; Vice President of the Gujarat State Chess Association; Co-Chair of the CII Gujarat Startup Taskforce; and Chair of Entrepreneurship at Young Indians.
A TEDx speaker and national media commentator, he speaks on policy, AI ethics, fintech regulation, governance and South–South cooperation.
He is the grandson of Sanskrit scholar Dr. Mahendra Pratap Thapar and great-grandson of Shri Sardari Lal Thapar, a freedom fighter and Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader from Punjab.
